Keep Your Eyes Upon the Cross
I asked God, “Oh, do You Love me?”
“For my soul is tempest tossed.”
He placed His loving arms around me,
And He said, “Daughter, see the Cross!”
I asked God, “Oh, will You leave me?”
“For my strength, it feels so pale!”
He placed His hand upon my shoulder,
And He said, “Daughter, see the nail!”
I asked God, “Oh, will You save me,”
“As I cross the river’s flood?”
He placed my hand inside His bosom,
And said, “Daughter, feel the blood!”
I asked God, “Why must I suffer,
“In this world, so grieved and torn?
He bowed His Head and came close to me,
And He said, “Daughter, see the thorn!”
He said, “Daughter, should You doubt Me,
“In this faithless world, so lost;
“Remember I AM with you!
“So keep your eyes upon the Cross!”
